Governance & Audit Officer is required for a permanent, part-time role paying Â£30614.33(FTE) plus £2,835.11(FTE) London Allowance per annum based in Albany House, working 18 hours per week of a 37 hour FTE.

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As a Governance & Audit Officer with BTP, you will be responsible for supporting the Divisional Governance Lead and Audit Managers with the day-to day running of the Governance function, providing assistance on the implementation of a standard corporate governance for B Division, including at stations, property stores,  and assisting with monitoring the security of information and records retention across the Division

 

As a Governance & Audit Officer, you will be required to:

  • Assist with the timely allocation, close monitoring, and conclusion of complaints. Communicating results to complainants.
  • Populate and track to rectification, areas of non-compliances identified through audit or data hub monitoring, to aid the Audit Managers in management of station non-compliances.
  • Also through analysis, identify areas requiring targeted support to rectify non-compliances. Identify emerging trends and risks to inform senior management team, making recommendations to mitigate and reduce further risk.
  • Monitor and update the B Governance, Property and Station Assurance pages, providing officers and staff with a ‘one stop shop’ for these specific areas.

  • Educated to degree level in law, policing and/or criminology or research, and/or equivalent training or experience.
  • Experienced in research and analysis with ability to interrogate, develop and interpret data.
  • Advanced research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Office software, in particular, Excel

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
