Vulnerability Coordinator is required for a Permanent Full-Time Opportunity role paying £30,614.33 per annum, with the British Transport Police (BTP) based at Baskerville House, Birmingham. 

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As a Vulnerability Coordinator with BTP you will coordinate our collective response in respect of all vulnerable people in contact with BTP, ensuring that we meet our statutory obligations in terms of mental health, adult at risk and child safeguarding legislation. This will include the identification and reporting of all suicidal/self-harm and mental health incidents in order to assess and help mitigate on-going risk and ensure the best possible care and support for the person involved.

It will be expected that during your probation period of 6 months or to a level where you are fully competent in your role, you will be expected to be in the office full time, however, following a successful probation you will be in a position to work remotely from home and from the office

 

As Vulnerability Coordinator you will be required to:

  • Review, assess and prioritise incidents and submitted information related to vulnerable persons and suicide prevention and mental health (SPMH) concerns, ensuring initial response was appropriate
  • Ensure that all safeguarding Public Protection incidents are properly identified
  • Refer and liaise with partner agencies regarding adults at risk, child safeguarding, SPMH and domestic abuse, fulfilling BTP responsibility to share public protection information with relevant authorities

  • Experience of working in Public Protection and Safeguarding
  • Demonstrable evidence of sound decision making, and judgement based on a variety of sensitive information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Data protection principles and legislation
  • Freedom of Information principles
  • Educated to ‘A’ Level/Higher Grade or equivalent relevant experience

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
