We are recruiting for Mobile Device Engineer on a permanent contract paying up to £37,546.44 per annum with British Transport Police (BTP) based at BTP Force Headquarters, Camden, London. 

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year.

. Your day-to-day role will include: 

  • Supporting the procurement, configuration, asset management and troubleshooting of handheld radios and mobile devices.
  • Supporting the wider team with any communications project work i.e. relocation or rollout of devices.
  • Managing the issuing of new devices to new starters, the re-issuing of devices to internal movers, and facilitating the collection of devices from leavers.

The successful candidate will be required to evidence the following: 

  • Good technical knowledge and an experience of working in an IT setting.
  • Experience of offering first/second line support
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with conflicting priorities

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
