A Resourcing Advisor is required for a 9 month fixed term contract/internal opportunity paying £32,757.33 per annum with British Transport Police (BTP) based in Baskerville House, Birmingham. This role offers a blended approach of home and office-based working. Some national travel will be required.

BTP is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground. As Resourcing Advisor with BTP, you will provide resourcing expertise in order to attract, assess and hire candidates across a number of specialist business areas. You will provide expert advice to hiring managers, ensuring recruitment best practice is adhered to.

As Resourcing Advisor, you will be required to:

  • Lead on a varied portfolio of resourcing activity, working with hiring managers and other departments to develop tailored resourcing solutions.
  • Utilise all available resourcing tools as appropriate, particularly in regards to advertising, direct sourcing, and agency usage where necessary.
  • Play a key part in the modernisation of our recruitment function by taking accountability for potential areas of improvement.
  • Act as first point of contact regarding all resourcing matters, providing expert advice and guidance to all parties both internal and external to the organisation.

The successful candidate will be required to evidence the following:

  • A successful track record in delivering resourcing activity in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience of creating engaging job adverts, building assessment and selection strategies and managing the candidate journey.
  • Experience in providing clear advice and guidance on a wide range of resourcing issues.
  • Ability to use a range of resourcing tools in the attraction of candidates and in direct sourcing.
  • Knowledge of resourcing practice including up-to-date awareness of recruitment best practice principles and regulatory requirements.
  • A high level of attention to detail.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. This is applicable to new starters who join before the 1st of October 2023. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. Internal candidates must have completed their probation for their current substantive posting and can only apply in tenure if Head of Department approval is emailed to Recruitmentteam@btp.police.uk prior to the vacancy closing. Internal candidates must confirm that they are not subject to formal action plans for sickness/complaints/discipline or poor performance and that all mandatory training courses have been attended and are in ticket/up to date. A minimum rating of 3 (performing) or a rating of U (no rating) must have been achieved on the last reporting year PDR.
