 A Senior Analyst is required for a permanent, full time role paying £34,139.86 per annum, plus £2,835.11 London Allowance per annum with the British Transport Police (BTP) based in Force Headquarters, Camden, London.

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As Senior Analyst with BTP you will oversee the day to day management and co-ordination of our analysts and researchers, ensuring their work adheres to legal and policy framework and in line with Force wide objectives and priorities. Our senior analysts will be responsible for work on the most complex and high profile investigations, operations and crimes in support of senior officers as part of live-time intelligence cells. They will work across multiple portfolio's with frequent engagement with officers of all rank on matters including tasking and co-ordination, problem solving, operational analysis and analysis to understand complex vulnerabilities. This role will offer flexible working from day one!

 

As Senior Analyst you will be required to:

  • Manage the day to day activities of the analytical team. Coordinate and prioritise work as necessary.
  • Lead on the implementation of improvements to intelligence analysis and research.
  • Lead on the production of analytical products.
  • Take the lead in co-ordinating the provision of analytical services to high profile live-time investigations and operations, conducting and directing analysis in often fast time and  high pressured environments.
  • Work effectively with specialist teams handling the most sensitive and highest risk intelligence.
  • Conduct expert analysis at strategic, tactical and operational levels to interpret patterns, trends and gaps.
  • Lead on research, analysis and assimilation of large volumes of complex data and make recommendations.
  • Exercise use of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and maintain knowledge of relevant legislation.

 

Further information about this vacancy can be found in the attached job description. The successful Senior Analyst will be required to evidence the following:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of operational analysis. To include extensive experience of telecoms analysis, producing products to assist live/fast time operations to ensure analysis drives the investigation forward.
  • Significant experience in working on major crime operations as well as serious and organised crime investigations.
  • Proven use of and experience in producing evidential products to be used for interviews, charging decisions and for court.
  • Experience of utilising different types of computer of computer software packages such as specific analytical software programmes.
  • Effective leadership and people management skills
  • Have a good understanding and knowledge of Covert Policing, Counter Terrorism and Domestic Extremism policing, or have a strong willingness to undertake training and learning development to obtain this knowledge

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
