An exciting opportunity has become available for a Head of Application Services on a Permanent Contract  paying up to £79,468.327 with British Transport Police (BTP) based in Force Headquarters, Camden, London.

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. The Head of Application Services plays a critical role in designing, influencing, enabling and delivering the overall Vision & Digital Strategy of the Technology department. Role supports services and delivery to the requirements Digital Policing and transformation required in the short, medium and long term. Reporting into the CTO, and managing a team of approximately 25 staff across Cloud, Data and Operational Technology Services. Supporting BTP business objectives and policing strategy through the delivery of analysis and insight. Takes a central role in the ongoing development of the BTP integrated systems approach, mobile development and deliver the IT digital strategy.

The successful Head of Application Services will be required to evidence the following skills and qualifications:

  • Business Application Management
  • Educated to degree level in a specific IT or engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Accredited to ITIL Foundation Level or higher 
  • Experience in managing a team within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Good knowledge of Supplier, Vendor Management and Microsoft's product offerings

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
