A Collator is required for a permanent role paying Â£30,614.33 per annum, plus £2,835.11 London Allowance per annum with the British Transport Police (BTP) based at our London Bridge location.  

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As a Collator with BTP you will gather, evaluate, analyse and disseminate and develop confidential information and intelligence to inform and support local operational decision making processes, within the Neighbourhood Policing Teams. Ensuring compliance with intelligence, information protocols and policy. Dissemination Home Office police forces, Train Operating Companies and BTP sources.

 As Collator you will be required to:

  • Collate and produce monthly Intelligence briefings and crime mapping for the Station Commander to use in stakeholder monthly meetings
  • Research and analyse crime patterns, emerging threats and risks to the railway community, and consider advising stakeholders on appropriate courses of action
  • Routinely prepare police circulations, briefings and make decisions with intelligence from Body Worn Video footage, CCTV and Home Office briefing sources and cascade to officers in the appropriate format
  • Prepare and present appropriate information to Police and Communities Together (PACT) meetings and where necessary facilitate questions and discuss Problem Solving Plans and initiatives

  • Good understanding and awareness of: National Intelligence Model (NIM), Data Protection Act 2018, of Police Information (MOPI), Police National Database (PNC)
  • Previous experience of working within an Intelligence/Policing environment
  • Experience of driving good working relationships with partner agencies
  • Able to liaise with internal and external contacts to establish and develop a two-way exchange of intelligence/information and analysis
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office programs and other databases and systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Five GCSEs (or equivalent) A-C grade

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
