A Senior IT Project Manager is required for a permanent contract paying up to £58,544.60 per annum with British Transport Police (BTP) based in Camden, London. 

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As Senior IT Project Manager with BTP you will lead on a wide range of technology related projects, delivering IT enabled change during what is an exciting time for the force.

As Senior IT Project Manager you will be required to:

  • Hold responsibility for the planning, definition and delivery of complex IT projects.
  • Provide accurate and timely project updates.
  • Coach and mentor project management colleagues, embedding best practice across the function.
  • Oversee the delivery of third-party providers in relation to your projects.

Key requirements include:

  • Practical experience of leading on high profile, wide ranging technical projects.
  • Practical experience of working with third party partners.
  • Extensive experience of managing programmes of work and providing reports and KPIs to senior stakeholders.
  • Understanding of project reporting principles and project/programme best practice.
  • Experience of using a range of project methodologies.

Projects post holder will work on may include replacement and live streaming of Body Worn Video devices for our frontline officers, innovative mobile applications to produce efficiency and effectiveness on the frontline and using robotic automation to further streamline operational scenarios.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
