A Digital Workplace Senior Engineer is required for a permanent role paying up to £50,863.13 per annum with British Transport Police (BTP). This role can be based at our Force Headquarters in Camden, London or at one of our other main centres located in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff or Glasgow. However, as we are a national force, we are open to discussing other suitable alternative working locations across the UK. 

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year.  

Senior Digital Workplace Engineer – Digital Workplace Solutions 

This role sits within the Digital Workplace Solutions Team within Digital Workplace. Digital Workplace currently consists of 3 teams: End User Computing, Platforms and Solutions. The Digital Workplace Solutions Team is responsible for the technical design, development and implementation of Digital Productivity services and solutions that improve collaboration, communication, mobility, connectivity, and productivity.  

We have begun an exciting journey into the world of PowerApps, Power Automate and SharePoint Online and this role will be instrumental in further developing secure and robust solutions that elevate our success in this area as well as delivering solutions that make the best use of our E5 capability.  

Automation is a key component of productivity gains, and the role will have a high level of autonomy to work closely with the business to prioritise, identify, design and implement solutions that streamline business processes and add value to the business. This role therefore also acts as a 'consultant' to the business and will require excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. We expect significant expansion in this area and this role will be instrumental in contributing towards the vision and strategy of Digital Workplace Solutions within Digital Workplace. 

We are looking for individuals that have:  

  • A passion for transforming business processes and delivering value through innovative technical solutions. 
  • Significant experience developing Power App (both canvas and model driven), Power Automate (RPA), Dataverse, and SharePoint technical solutions to solve business problems. 
  • Hands-on experience supporting the administration of the Power Platform including the Centre of Excellence and governance best practices. 
  • Experience building or working with REST API and Custom Connectors. 
  • Experience working in HTML, CSS, .Net and IIS, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, and PowerShell. 
  • Experience working in an ITIL environment, providing 3rd line support for incident and problem management, and working to SLA. 
  • Exposure to ITSM platform development and configuration. 
  • Exposure to the main components of the M365 E5 licence, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, Purview and Intune and a willingness to maintain a broad working knowledge.  
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and the capabilities relevant to the delivery of productivity solutions. 
  • Prior experience or an interest in supporting the delivery of live streaming services including the use of professional audio and video equipment. 

Whilst this role sits formally within the Digital Productivity Services team within Digital Workplace, the postholder will gain exposure across the Digital Workplace strands and may be required to work in other Digital Workplace areas when required. This is applicable to all roles within Digital Workplace.
