British Transport Police (BTP) are recruiting for an Internal Channels Manager on a Permanent Contract. The role is paying £39,878.80 per annum and can be based at any of our UK Hubs: Birmingham, London, Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff, and Scotland. London based candidates will be eligible for a London Allowance £3,033.56 per annum. Interviews will take place on Wednesday 10 April

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. The purpose of the Internal channels manager is to support the Internal Communications lead by creating, leading, and implementing the overarching approach to BTP/BTPAs internal communications channels including internal events.

As an Internal Channels Manager, you will be required to:

  • Monitoring, analysing, and evaluating output across BTP’s internal media channels, making recommendations on the force’s approach and use of these channels to support delivery of the communications and engagement strategy and the delivery of good internal communications.
  • To be responsible for the co-ordination, implementation, and maintenance of internal channel management plans, ensuring that all content is in line with internal brand guidelines.
  • Influence and advise on the direction, planning, and coordination of internal digital communications and campaigns, ensuring they make the best effort to raise awareness and change perceptions and behaviour.
  • Provide expert advice to internal stakeholders on the strategic management of force wide communications and how best to reach our people, driving employee engagement and enhancing our Employee Value Proposition as an employer.
  • Influence colleagues at all levels to adopt behavioural change and insight to inform Channels decisions and how to create a two-way conversation, in line with our people and organisational strategies.
  • Plan, coordinate and maintain professional oversight of the implementation of a multi-channel matrix aimed at changing behaviour and perceptions; evaluate effectiveness, ensuring lessons learned are shared with colleagues and taken into consideration in channels projects. This includes, but is not limited to, The Intranet, Viva Engage, Line Managers Briefing and The Beat.
  • Design, coordinate and maintain a channels dashboard that capture channels reach (including but not limited to the intranet, Viva engage, The Beat and Line Mangers Briefing) and engagement to inform strategy and advise senior leaders on communications strategies.
  • Manage and maintain content on the force Intranet, ensuring that it is regularly updated, accurate, relevant, and varied to raise awareness, change perceptions and influence BTPs workforce.
  • Responsible for all aspects of ensuring governance is adhered to, including Information Management, IT, and Transformation to ensure that all channels meet our data and privacy requirements – identifying and mitigating any risks with teams to keep our information secure.

 

Further information about this vacancy can be found in the attached job description. The successful Internal channels Manager will be required to evidence the following:

  • Proven ability in intranet management from content production to publishing, using content management systems.
  • Proven ability in the use of analytical tools and ability to interpret and use data to improve performance of channels.
  • A creative and strategic thinker with excellent judgement Politically astute.
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to present complex information in concise and plain English.
  • Ability to influence, persuade and negotiate, demonstrating gravitas and establishing credibility when giving advice and guidance at all levels of the organisation and externally.
  • Ability to search for and deliver effective problem-solving digital solutions.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships internally and externally at all levels.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and under own initiative.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, project management and time management skills, with the ability to work on several projects at once, often to conflicting deadlines.
