A  Digital Workplace Engineer (Platforms) is required for a permanent role paying up to £47,078.21 per annum with British Transport Police (BTP) based at BTP Force Headquarters, Camden, London, or one of our national offices in Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff or Scotland .

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year.

The Digital Workplace Engineer for Platforms role sits within Digital Workplace. Our priority is to fully utilise our investment in our Microsoft 365 E5 licence and the capabilities around compliance, governance and security.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of the backend, configuration of the tenant, and its associated platforms (e.g. Exchange, Defender, Purview, Entra ID, SharePoint and Teams telephony).
  • Prompt resolution of third line incidents using extensive diagnostic information gathering, troubleshooting, problem analysis and resolution.
  • Close collaboration with colleagues specialising in different areas, such as Cyber Security, Desktop, EUC, Information Management and third-party support providers.
  • Producing detailed documentation for other engineers

    The Microsoft 365 platform is a constantly evolving platform and the post holder will be responsible for ensuring their skillsets evolve in line with this and achieve the relevant certifications. It is expected the Digital Productivity Platforms remit will expand over time. Joining BTP will give you access to a wide variety of cross-team collaboration opportunities, allowing you to work closely with other specialists and gain experience across a number of IT departments.

    Whilst this role sits formally in the Platforms branch within Digital Workplace, the post holder will gain exposure across the Digital Workplace strands (EUC, Services and Platforms) and will be utilised as a resource within those strands where there is skills development opportunity or a resourcing requirement.

    • Up to £47,078.21 (base salary of £36,529.65 plus London Allowance (if London based) £3033.56 plus a non pensionable, non contractual Skills Framework for the Information Age supplement of up to £3,862 either 0%,50% or 100% awarded dependant on assessment there is also the potential for an On Call Allowance 10% of basic salary)
