A Resourcing Advisor is required for 12-month fixed term contract paying £30,614.33 per annum with British Transport Police (BTP) based in Baskerville House, Birmingham. This role offers a blended approach of home and office-based working. National travel will be required at times of promotion boards.

BTP is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground. As the Promotions Resourcing Advisor with BTP, you will focus predominantly on promotions, providing resourcing expertise in order to attract, assess and promote candidates across all ranks at BTP.

As Resourcing Advisor, you will be required to:

  • Lead on the promotions portfolio of resourcing activity, working closely with various departments including Talent, I&D,  Workforce Planning, Internal Comms & L&D to name a few.
  • You will work with teams and stakeholders across BTP to develop a promotions timetable for the year, and subsequently lead on the resourcing aspects of the boards. This includes communications, advertisement, shortlisting, booking & co-ordination of the boards and the posting stage.
  • You will work with teams and stakeholders across BTP to support with the development of candidate guidance, FAQs and resourcing resources to support candidates throughout the promotion process.
  • You will play a key part in the modernisation of our recruitment function by taking accountability for potential areas of improvement; identifying best ways of working and areas we could work more effectively with the utilisation of technology.
  • Act as first point of contact regarding all promotions resourcing matters, providing expert advice and guidance to all parties in the organisation.

The successful candidate will be required to evidence the following:

  • A successful track record in delivering resourcing activity in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience of creating engaging job adverts, building assessment and selection strategies and managing the candidate journey.
  • Experience in providing clear advice and guidance on a wide range of resourcing issues.
  • Ability to use a range of resourcing tools in the attraction of candidates and in direct sourcing.
  • Knowledge of resourcing practice including up-to-date awareness of recruitment best practice principles and regulatory requirements.
  • A high level of attention to detail.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
