British Transport Police (BTP) are recruiting for a Business Planning Lead for a permanent contract. The role is paying £50,674.42 plus £3033.56 London Allowance per annum and will be based at our Force Headquarters, London. This role offers a blended approach of home and office-working.

We are a national police force covering the rail network throughout Great Britain, including the London Underground, ensuring the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year.

As a Business Planning Lead, you will be required to:

  • On behalf of the Force, provide direction and embed a clear golden thread from strategic priorities to service delivery; enabling services to deliver better outcomes for the communities we serve.
  • Manage the delivery and governance of the key Strategic Hub outputs. Taking responsibility to ensure effective and efficient delivery within the designated timeframe: Force Management Statement, Capability Review, Policing Plan, Force Strategy and subsequent performance reporting.
  • Work with colleagues in Finance, People and Culture and Transformation to drive a holistic and joined up business planning cycle which is in aligned across the organisation.
  • Monitor and develop clear reporting on the Force’s progress against its Strategy and associated business plans, ensuring transparency for the Authority and police governing bodies such as HMICFRS.
  • Build relationships and be able to work flexibility with a range of stakeholders across the Force and BTPA to embed awareness of the new process, more consistent ways of working and high quality outputs.

The successful Business Planning Lead will be required to evidence the following:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of organisational planning/business change within UK policing and commercial opportunities for Shared Services, Collaboration and Outsourcing
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to persuade and influence others and to manage expectations
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to draft reports and presentations with attention to detail
  • Extremely numerate, technological capable and ability to apply analytical techniques to make decision
  • Experience of managing multiple work streams at the same time, prioritising the key issues
  • Experience of influencing, negotiating with, and providing challenge to management-level stakeholders
  • Experience of collecting and analysing information, to form recommendations on organisation change and improvements
  • Ability to present complex data and information in a concise and straightforward manner
  • Evidence of strong personal drive, including high levels of resilience and determination and an ability to anticipate and overcome obstacles to deliver results and demonstrate evidence of the ability to make compound judgments and decisions and to challenge current thinking
