A Deputy CIO (Digital Transformation) is required for a permanent contract paying up to £100,537.92 with British Transport Police (BTP) based in Camden, London

BTP is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. This role reports directly into the Chief Information Officer and is accountable for the Digital Transformation Portfolio and the Application Services Line. 

The Deputy CIO is part of the Technology Leadership Team and will represent and deputise for the CIO and will work closely with senior colleagues and partners. You will have direct management responsibility for a multi-disciplined team and will substantially contribute to the Digital and Technology Strategies.

You will have full responsibility for the Digital Transformation Portfolio including Programme and Project Management, Business Analysis and Project Portfolio Management. You are also responsible for the development of service strategies and roadmaps and ensuring service offerings are aligned to business objectives through Business Design and Architecture.

As a Deputy CIO (Digital Transformation) key activities include:

  • Business Design & Architecture - Lead and manage the business design and architecture function responsible for the analysis of the organisations business capability and identify the Digital and Technology Service Strategies required to achieve corporate strategies, goals and objectives.
  • Service Strategy - Devise, develop and deliver the product and service strategy for the Application and Integration Service Line.
  • Leadership and Management - Shape and Define the Application and Digital Transformation operating model, including the resourcing model and implementation of a multi-sourcing model.
  • Transformation Portfolio - The identification, planning and coordination across the entire a portfolio of technology transformation.

Key requirements include:

  • Professionally qualified with a relevant degree/postgraduate qualification, plus a significant number of years' relevant leadership experience, or substantial experience and proven success in a strategically important broad function/specialist area.
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate
  • Experience of working with and influencing Senior Leaders
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing Application strategies.
  • Extensive experience of leading Business and Technology Change and developing and delivery innovative cutting-edge solutions.
  • Significant experience in Managing and controlling of substantial budgets (in excel of £1 million) & resources and understanding financial management procedures.
