Secondment opportunity to join BTP’s new South West County Lines Taskforce

BTP’s County Lines Taskforce (CLTF), set up with Home Office funding in December 2019, has made 1,105 arrests, seized 576 lots of drugs and £368k in illicit cash, and removed 214 dangerous weapons from the rail network to date.

Our CLTF works daily to pursue and prosecute County Lines offenders using the rail network to move drugs between locations. A key aim of the team is to identify and safeguard vulnerable children and adults often exploited by these organised criminals. Increased funding has allowed BTP to introduce a new proactive South West Taskforce to tackle County Lines criminality in the region.

There is a 9 month secondment opportunity for Police Constables to join BTP’s new dedicated South West County Lines taskforce. The taskforce will deploy across the South West tackle county lines offending, protect vulnerable people at stations and on the strategic railway route, and often works alongside other police forces. Tasks are set on a weekly basis and an ever-developing intelligence picture dictates where the team is deployed next. Any seconded Officers would be based from either Exeter or Plymouth.

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to be considered for this role, applicants must meet the below initial eligibility requirements:

• Candidates must currently be serving in a Home Office force
• Candidates must be substantive in the rank of Constable (or above), having completed the full probationary service.
• Candidates must not currently be subject to an unsatisfactory performance review or action plan
• Candidates must have no current findings of guilt for complaints or discipline
• All mandatory training must be up to date
