An Analyst is required for a permanent role paying £25,964.30 plus £2520 London Allowance with British Transport Police (BTP) based in London.

BTP is the national police Force for Britain’s rail network. Every day we ensure the safety and security of over six million passengers and railway staff throughout England, Scotland and Wales. As an Analyst with BTP you will conduct high quality analytical work and deliver a high quality and timely analytical service in support of BTP's objectives and priorities.

In particular provide analysis and research to support BTP and Stakeholder decision making in relation to tasking of Suicide Prevention and Mental Health resources.

As an Analyst you will be required to:

• Undertake analysis of extensive data sets; including intelligence, incidents, witness statements, statistics, interview material, partnership and open source information. This will include analysis and research of suicide notes and coroner’s inquest files.

• To identify common trends and themes in suicidal and pre-suicidal behaviour to assist with developing strategies to assist with the prevention of suicide. Also to identify information gaps and make recommendations based on analysed data to various managers, departments and partner agencies. Provide support to research projects into suicidal and pre-suicidal incidents and behaviours.

• Form part of a team and be regarded as a professional advisor for the use of analytical services and products. Provide analysis to assist in developing organisational, operational, intelligence and investigative strategies and policies.

The successful Analyst will be required to evidence the following skills:

Proven analytical experience with high attention to detail

• Effective in giving presentations to a varied audience using different methods. The post holder will be expected to give briefings and presentations explaining findings and to justify conclusions to various levels of personnel and give evidence in Court.

• Proven problem solving and creative thinking skills. The applicant must be able to evidence the ability to think outside the box and come up with new and innovative solutions to problems.

• Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative. Able to liaise with internal and external contacts to establish and develop a two-way exchange of intelligence/information and analysis.
