BTP Firearms Officer Interest Day and Workshop

In response to the increased UK threat level from terrorism, and to ensure BTP has the right level of resources to respond to any threat, we are significantly increasing our armed capacity in the Midlands and North West. This is your opportunity to take the next step in your career at BTP and become one of our highly-trained Authorised Firearms Officers (AFOs).

So that you can gain a full understanding of this role within BTP, and to get insight on the application and assessment process, we would like to invite you to an interest day being held on Wednesday 10th of January 2018.

The interest day will be held in our Specialist Operations Department in central London between 11:00 and 15:00, and will include:

  • Input from current BTP Firearms Officers on the role and the training
  • Input from Recruitment on the whole assessment process, including guidance on the application and interview stages
  • Guidance on the Competencies and Values Framework (CVF)
  • The opportunity to try on firearms-specific kit
  • Q&A sessions with the Firearms Unit and HR

Eligibility:

In order to be considered for attendance, candidates must meet the minimum eligibility criteria for the role

  • Internal candidates must be a substantive officer, and have completed the minimum probationary period as a Student Officer
  • External candidates must be a serving firearms officer in a Home Office force or within MOD, and have completed the minimum probationary period as a Student Officer
  • Candidates must not be subject to action plans or warnings for sickness, discipline, or poor performance
