Head Of Financial Planning & Analysis is required for a 6-month FTC role paying £63,958.17 (DOE) plus £2700.10 London Allowance and £7000.00 market supplement per annum with British Transport Police (BTP) based at our Force Headquarters in Camden, London. 

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, you will lead the Financial Planning and Analysis team and will be primarily accountable for all of the functions within this team and will report into the Deputy Director, Decision Support.

As Head Of Financial Planning & Analysis, you will be required to:

  • Lead the Finance Planning and Analysis team which will centrally oversee the BTP performance against the c£300m BTP budget.
  • Develop and maintain the annual Finance calendar, including timing of MTFP, Budget, quarterly forecasting, reporting.
  • Provide options for medium and longer term financial planning for both revenue and capital and business planning cycles.
  • Take ownership of the process and production of standard Financial reporting, including the development of KPIs, to COG (Chief Officer Group), Governance Boards, British Transport Police Authority and Department for Transport.

The successful Head Of Financial Planning & Analysis will be required to evidence the following:

  • Fully qualified member of one of the five Consultative Committees of Accounting Bodies (CCAB).
  • Extensive post qualification experience.
  • Proven experience in a senior position within a finance function.
  • Track record of delivering value added financial reporting that supports decision making.
  • Experience in business partnering and delivering highly complex messages.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
