A Designated Property Officer is required for a permanent, full time contract role paying £21,808.98 per annum, plus £2700.10 London Allowance per annum with the British Transport Police (BTP) based in Ebury Bridge

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As Designated Property Officer with BTP you will be responsible for all matters related to the Cyber Crime Unit (CCU) property store at Ebury Bridge, including recording items booked in and out, property store audits. Logging all property and arranging in conjunction with the CCU Case Officer and the Officer in Case for it to be returned to the rightful owner or submitted for destruction.

 

As Designated Property Officer you will be required to:

  • Receive and store all items of property taken as evidence from suspects, witnesses or complainants or recovered from scenes of crime and all recovered stolen property, accurately recording details on the property management system.
  • Manage the administration systems, storage and retention of interview tapes arranging for copies to be made on request.
  • Arrange for the disposal of Special Property such as digital media, drugs and hazardous substances in the appropriate manner.
  • Responsible for the release of property and associated records for officers attending court.
  • Assisting with reception duties for Ebury Bridge.
  • Liaising with the Scientific Support Unit for special handling exhibits such as those requiring DNA or fingerprint analysis.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
