A Data Transformation Business Analyst is required on a 24-month fixed term contract paying £39,877.88 plus £2,700.10 London Allowance (if applicable) with British Transport Police (BTP) based in Force Headquarters, Camden, London or Birmingham.


BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.

As a Data Transformation Business Analyst with BTP you will report to the Data Transformation Programme Manager as part of the “A Force on the Move” programme which started in April 2022.

 

The post holder will be required to:

  • Undertake analytical activities to identify the requirement for BTP's data transformation programme, in accordance with customer and strategic needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of developments in data transformation, providing detailed advice regarding their application.
  • Elicit and discover requirements from operational management and other stakeholders.
  • Selects appropriate techniques for the elicitation of detailed requirements taking into account the nature of the required changes, established practice and the characteristics and culture of those providing the requirements.
  • Specify and document business requirements as directed, ensuring traceability back to source.
  • Analyse them for adherence to business objectives and for consistency, challenging positively appropriate.

 

The successful Data Transformation Business Analyst will be required to evidence the following skills and qualifications:

  • Professional and/or graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline e.g. Business Change.
  • Experience of producing reports and briefings using different types of data from a variety of sources both alone and as part of a wider team.
  • Proven analytical experience gained through work experience or educational background.
  • Trained and experienced in using Microsoft Office applications and databases and the use of big data.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
