An ADMINISTRATOR is required for a Fixed Term Contract role paying £20,117.79 plus £2495 London Allowance with British Transport Police (BTP) based in LONDON.

BTP is the national police Force for Britain’s rail network. Every day we ensure the safety and security of over six million passengers and railway staff throughout England, Scotland and Wales. As an ADMINISTRATOR with BTP you will provide professional, efficient, proactive and confidential secretarial/administrative support and carry out general office duties.

The Professional Standards Department (PSD) is responsible for protecting and promoting the delivery of good standards within the British Transport Police (BTP). As a result of BTP’s position in society, we hold professional accountability for the decisions we make and the public has the right to question us when they feel that the service they have received has fallen short of their expectations. BTP provides a simple and accessible public complaints system for this purpose.

The PSD Administrative Team record, monitor and progress all complaints and conduct cases received against BTP employees in a timely manner that is compliant with force objectives and guidelines. The Administrative Team deals with a variety of tasks which include dealing with enquires from members of the public, BTP staff and officers, IPCC, external Forces and stakeholders and are vital to improving relationships and developing public confidence with the British Transport Police.

As an ADMINISTRATOR you will be required to:

• First point of contact for all callers, contractors and visitors, including distressed members of the public, ensuring they are dealt with promptly, efficiently and courteously. Intercept and make telephone calls on behalf of the manager or team, liaising with internal staff and external contacts at all levels, resolving issues proactively

• Provide a full administrative service to include (as required) typing, email, processing general accounts, petty cash and invoices, data entry, and creating and maintaining files and databases to track activities and workloads.

• Receive, acknowledge, organise and reply to all internal and external correspondence in a professional and timely manner and redirect as necessary.

The successful ADMINISTRATOR will be required to evidence the following skills:

• Ability to remain calm whilst working under pressure and to demanding deadlines whilst maintaining a flexible approach.

• High standard of planning and organisational ability.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with staff at all levels both internally and externally.

The Professional Standards Department (PSD) is a made up of a team of specialist investigators and support staff who are responsible for upholding the integrity and increasing public confidence in the British Transport Police.

Working within a small team reporting to the Case Management Supervisor, your skills could help contribute towards meeting our objectives by providing an excellent level of administrative support to ensure the effective operation of PSD.

The department is seeking a strong communicator who has the ability to deal with varied audience effectively, as well as someone who has experience in case management and successful navigation of database systems.
