A Safeguarding Intelligence Researcher is required on an 18 Month fixed term contract paying £22,626.98 per annum with British Transport Police (BTP) based in Leeds.


BTP is the national police Force for Britain’s railways. Every day we ensure the safety and security of over six million passengers and staff throughout England, Scotland and Wales. As a Safeguarding Researcher with BTP you will be required to provide timely, high quality and effective intelligence research concerning potentially vulnerable children and adults, in support of BTP’s overarching safeguarding strategy.

As a Safeguarding Intelligence Researcher you will be required to:

  • To identify, collect intelligence, information and reports from various sources in order to identify and risk assess safeguarding vulnerabilities.
  • To undertake in depth research concerning children, vulnerable persons and those at risk.
  • To ensure that intelligence records are sanitised, validated, linked and nominal records created in order to meet operational and national requirements in accordance with relevant legislation and guidance thereby upholding the integrity of BTP and avoiding litigation liabilities against the Force.
  • Check accuracy, completeness and reliability of records on computer systems and to ensure BTP data standards are maintained, identifying any compliance issues and refer them to the relevant departments.

The successful Safeguarding Intelligence Researcher will be required to evidence the following skills/experience:

  • Researching, organizing, sorting and interpreting high volumes of information.
  • Dealing with confidential records / information
  • Working under pressure to strict deadlines
  • Use of police information and intelligence systems would be advantageous i.e. PNC, Niche and PND.
