Station Support Officer based within the   Disruption Team is required for a permanent   role paying up to £20,520.15   annum plus £2,570 London Allowance with British Transport Police (BTP)   based in Kings Cross, London
  
BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great   Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and   security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of   freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally   and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As Station Support Officer with BTP you will co-ordinate the administrative functions of the three LNE&EM   Embedded Inspectors (London, Derby, York) and their tasking teams. The Station Support Officer will provide a comprehensive level of support and be the single   point of contact between the operational teams and the National Disruption   Fusion Unit administrator and analyst.

 
As Station Support Officer you will be required to:

  • Effectively collate, review and request Operation Regatta and Operation Intercept work returns to ensure a high level of compliance is maintained by Officers following authorized overtime deployments by implementing a fit-for-purpose process including quality checks are ensured.
  • Compile a database of vulnerable persons reported by the Vulnerability Unit for Tasking Team Officers to disseminate VITAL Patrollers, Station Staff, TOC RSAS Accredited Rail Enforcement Officer and other BTP locations.
  • Compile and maintain a database of root cause stakeholder contact details, events and visits. Including school visits, BTP road shows, corporate visits and charity events and maintain a calendar of these events.
  • Engage in regular contact through telephone, e-mail, reports and face-to-face with internal and external stakeholders to ensure relevant operational information is shared in an understandable and actionable format.

Experience:

  • Enhanced knowledge of IT systems and software relevant to the role, including Niche and Control Works.
  • Proven use of information gathering skills and experience in collecting, reviewing and interpreting a wide range of datasets.

Skills:

  • Demonstrate ability to quality assure data and work returns to a high standard.
  • Strong capacity in using specialised software related to own area of work to extract, interpret and report on data.
  • Introduce new research techniques or ways of working at a team level.

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification or work experience.
  • Good understanding of the remit of BTP, operational policing practices and national policing priorities.
  • Excellent understanding of the Microsoft suite of programs including Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
