British Transport Police (BTP) are looking to recruit an Executive Assistant on a Permanent Contract paying £31,240.82 plus £2,700.10 London Allowance per annum and is based at Force Headquarters, Camden, London.

 

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.

 

As Executive Assistant you will be responsible for providing a management and business focused support service to allocated members of the Chief Officer Group (COG).

 

The post holder will proactively identify and help to resolve issues that impact on the delivery of day to day business. Provide direction and guidance to Divisional Commanders and FHQ Department Heads that fall under the portfolio of the Chief Officer.

 

As Executive Assistant you will be required to:

  • Make decisions on behalf of the Chief Officer and provide direction and guidance to the senior management team within their portfolio to ensure effective service delivery
  • Proactively identify and help to resolve issues that impact on the delivery of day to day business. Liaise with appropriate people (at all levels of seniority both within BTP and externally) to resolve issues. Advise the Chief Officer on unresolved issues that need to be addressed
  • Manage the Chief Officer’s busy schedule, organising meetings, making decisions on conflicting priorities, and prioritising commitments to make the most effective use of their time
  • Prepare reports and correspondence (including emails) for the Chief Officer, which may, due to the subject matter, require sensitivity, discretion, judgement or negotiation

The successful candidate will be required to evidence the following skills:

  • Educated to degree level or NVQ level 3 in Business and Administration or equivalent
  • Extensive experience of working at an executive level as a Personal Assistant / Office Manager in a fast paced office environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and unsupervised, prioritising conflicting demands to meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of work
  • Experience of providing executive support to high level meetings e.g. Director level board meetings

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
