Business Process Analyst is required within the Smarter Working Team on a permanent contract paying £39,877.88 plus £2,700.10 London Allowance (if applicable) with British Transport Police (BTP). The role is based at Force Headquarters, Camden, London however agile working is supported.

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.

 A smarter working initiative has been set-up to take a critical look at BTP’s ways of working and identify ways these can be approved to best meet organisational goals.  The initiative looks to establish ways in which we can:

  • Maximise the use of the tools and applications we have available,
  • Streamline or simplify our processes,
  • Make better use of our estate,
  • Improve the data we have available and how we use it,
  • Learn from previous work or the work of others,
  • Gather and implement new ideas.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Business Process Analyst to support the Smarter Working team in the delivery of innovative improvement solutions through detailed process analysis and re-design that will improve efficiency and business performance through the creation of smarter ways of working

As a Business Process Analyst, you will be responsible for end to end process reviews through engagement supporting staff and senior stakeholders and managing the relevant policy and operating procedure updates.

As a Business Process Analyst you will be required to:

  • Identify business improvement opportunities through horizon scanning and benchmarking activities.
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative research and analysis in order to make decisions and recommendations for business change.
  • Produce relevant change management documentation as needed to support process change
  • Ensure a clear focus on improvements that add value to the delivery of business support functions

The successful Business Process Analyst will be required to evidence the following skills & qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level in business or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working in a change management environment 
  • Excellent facilitation and engagement skills including negotiation and influencing.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
