A vacancy has become available for Vulnerability Programme Trainer on a Fixed Term Contract (12 Months), paying up to £33,940.92 per annum, inclusive of London allowance, with British Transport Police (BTP) based in Spring House.

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including the London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As a Vulnerability Programme Trainer with BTP, you will work closely with the Public Protection and Vulnerability Command to develop and deliver a new and exciting vulnerability learning programme, which aims to support first responders and investigators in their continuous development to improve how we identify and respond to vulnerable people.

 

As a Vulnerability Programme Trainer you will be required to:

 

  • Be responsible for creating an innovative and effective training package for police officers and staff in conjunction with the learning and development team and the Public Protection and Vulnerability Command
  • Be responsible for designing and delivering the proposed Vulnerability learning programme
  • Be responsible for delivering comprehensive training and divisional training support across the force in line with current safeguarding policies, procedures and legislation
  • Be responsible for maintaining the training course and material, ensuring they are current, up to date and fit for purpose
  • Establish effective networks with key external partners to implement a collaborative approach to learning and development
  • Be responsible for establishing and maintaining communication networks with the appropriate Public Protection and Vulnerability Command and the relevant Vulnerability managers
  • Support other Learning and Development trainers and departmental trainers in the delivery of Public Protection and Vulnerability training

  • Ability to carry out Training Needs Analysis (TNA)
  • IT literate with experience of using MS Office applications
  • Ability to work effectively in changing situations, shifting priorities and simultaneous demands.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • A working knowledge of computer network systems

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised. The earliest this will be is June 2021.
