The British Transport Police Authority (BTPA) is seeking a new Chief Executive Officer. The BTPA, based in Central London, is the independent body responsible for ensuring an efficient and effective police force for rail operators, their staff and passengers. It sets British Transport Police’s objectives, budget and strategic direction each year, and reviews its performance.

It is a demanding time to be involved in policing the railways. The industry is growing rapidly with an expanding infrastructure, rise in passenger journeys and the commercialisation of many stations. Combining this with devolution, the evolving terrorist threat and changes in the demands on police make the role an interesting challenge.

Accountable to the Chairman, the CEO’s role is to provide strategic leadership of the BTPA’s executive team and effective stewardship of public funds in accordance with the highest standards of corporate governance, decision-making and financial management.

What we can offer you:

  • A total package of £142,029 which is comprised of the following:
    • Basic salary of £128,000
    • London allowance of £4,388
    • London Weighting of £2,372
    • Car Allowance of £7,269
    • 30 days annual leave
    • Family Healthcare Insurance
    • Competitive Pension Scheme

If you are interested we would ask that you apply via the submission of your CV along with a supporting statement which demonstrates that you possess the key qualities and attributes as outlined in p10-11 of the attached document. The attached document also provides an overview of BTPA, BTP, the role of the Chief Executive and more information.
