A SENIOR FINANCE & BUSINESS SUPPORT OFFICER is required for a PERMANENT role paying £31,352.70 plus £2470 London Allowance with British Transport Police (BTP) based in Albany House, London.

BTP is the national police Force for Britain’s rail network. Every day we ensure the safety and security of over six million passengers and railway staff throughout England, Scotland and Wales. As SENIOR FINANCE & BUSINESS SUPPORT OFFICER with BTP you will provide a timely and accurate Management Information support service for a number of senior managers and stakeholders, to enable the conversion of data into information and knowledge, in order to assist in the strategic decision making process.

As SENIOR FINANCE & BUSINESS SUPPORT OFFICER you will be required to:

  • Provide suitable business recommendations to budget holders on the basis of analysis of financial management information and participate in decision-making processes when required.
  • Prepare annual budgets for the budget holders within their area of responsibility in accordance with instructions and timetable.
  • Develop and maintain customer and colleague relationships (internally and externally) so as to maximize the effectiveness of BTP and the Business Support teams and ensure the good reputation of both.
  • Modelling headcount (2,000+ employees) and expenditure (£56.5m), to create budgets and forecasts, and a recruitment plan.
  • Carry out month-end closure procedures for budgets within area of responsibility. Investigate any mis-postings identified through variance analysis and take corrective action .

The successful SENIOR FINANCE & BUSINESS SUPPORT OFFICER will be required to evidence the following skills:

• Identify and suggests opportunities for change within work area.

• Excellent spread sheet and Word processing skills.

• Degree in a numerical discipline (or equivalent experience) and/or fully or part qualified by a recognised financial or accounting body
