British Transport Police (BTP) have an exciting opportunity for a permanent Solutions Architect to be based at our Technology Department in Camden, London.

BTP is the national police Force for Britain’s rail network. Every day we ensure the safety and security of over six million passengers and railway staff throughout England, Scotland and Wales. As Solutions Architect with BTP you will be responsible for the design and communication of high­level structures to enable and guide the design and development of integrated solutions that meet the needs of the Force, specifically for the replacement of our new Wider Area Network and for the delivery of our new mobile Emergency Service Network solution.

 

Key challenges and accountabilities for the role include:

•           Ensuring the development of relevant architectures, strategies, policies, standards and practices whilst planned solution components remain compatible.

•           Work closely with Project/Programme teams to deliver effective solutions

•           Overseeing changes to service, process, organisation, operating model and other aspects may be required in addition to technology components

 

Suitable requirements for this role include:

•           Educated to degree level in a specific IT or engineering discipline or equivalent experience

•           Experience of translating technical requirements into business language

•           Experience of mobile working platform integration with corporate networks

•           Extensive experience of enterprise design and implementation of corporate networks

•           Good knowledge of core networking technologies together with an understanding of the key technology providers

•           Some knowledge of information security protocols including device and network encryption services

•           In depth practical knowledge of WAN, LAN and enterprise voice solutions

•           Salary up to £62,465 (£46,766.20 + £2,470 London Allowance + a SFIA supplement of up to £13,229 dependant on skills and experience)
