British Transport Police (BTP) are recruiting a HR Advisor on a 12 month FTC to join our HR delivery team in Birmingham. The salary for this role is £33,438.11 per annum.


BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.


As HR Advisor for BTP you will be required to provide advice, guidance and practical support across a full range of HR related issues. You will deliver a case load of HR work related to sickness, ET’s disputes, discipline, performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations, diversity, organisational development and change etc.. within BTP’s HR guidelines, policies, procedures and relevant legislative requirements.


We are looking for applicants who have the following skills and experience:


  • CIPD qualified and working towards MCIPD or equivalent experience
  • A successful track record in providing HR generalist work in a large, multi-disciplined operational organisation
  • Experience of supporting the delivery of successful organisational, managerial and culture change
  • Professional, persuasive and influential
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Able to command the confidence of senior operational managers, employees, trade unions, external partners and other stakeholders.
