British Transport Police are looking to recruit a Portfolio HR Manager on a 12 month FTC. This is an exciting opportunity to join our HR Delivery team during a period of transformation. This role will be based in Birmingham and the salary is £42,976.96 per annum.

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.

The successful candidate will play an integral role in overseeing the delivery of people based project activity in line with our BTP 2021 portfolio of change. They will report to the Business Change Lead and working closely with the HR Delivery Team to help provide professional advice and guidance on the people aspects of change including coaching managers in people matters associated with the portfolio. The successful candidate will produce and implement the people elements of the BTP change toolkit and govern their implementation in line with existing policies and legislation.

We are looking for applicants who have the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Chartered membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD)
  • Experience of acting as a change agent, working pro-actively to make organisation change happen
  • Experience of assisting with the delivery of large scale change programmes involving significant culture change
  • Experience of coaching and consulting at a senior level, underpinned by a collaborative and supportive style of working and an ability to successfully manage relationships
  • Strong customer focus, effective change management communication skills at all levels and excellent commercial acumen
