An Evidence Review Officer is required for a permanent role paying up to Â£33,000 (including London weighting and shift allowance) with British Transport Police (BTP) based at Central London Police Station (W1). 

BTP is the national police Force for Britain’s rail network. Every day we ensure the safety and security of over six million passengers and railway staff throughout England, Scotland and Wales. As an Evidence Review Officer with BTP you will review case files and assess the evidence against legislation and policy in order to determine the most appropriate outcome for the case.

 

As an Evidence Review Officer you will be required to:

  • Liaise with external agencies including Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and Youth Offending Team
  • Work with supervisors and the officer in the case to ensure each file is of sufficient quality, adheres to legislation and criminal justice requirements
  • Make decisions in cases for the progress of the offender such as Charge to court, Bail for further evidence, Youth Referral, Summons, Caution etc.

  • A background within a legal environment with an understanding of the criminal justice process
  • High attention to detail including the ability to sift through large amounts of material utilizing analytical skills to grasp key points
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
