British Transport Police (BTP) are currently recruiting for an experienced intelligence analyst to work in one of our busy divisional intelligence bureaus. This role is on an 18-month Fixed Term Contract basis paying up to £29,843.11 dependant on previous experience (inclusive of London allowance) and will be based at Central London Police Station, 16 Whitfield Street, W1T 2RA. 

BTP is the national police Force for Britain’s rail network. Every day we ensure the safety and security of over six million passengers and railway staff throughout England, Scotland and Wales.  The intelligence analyst will work within a team of specialists developing crime and intelligence reports in order to support local and national objectives aimed at tackling and reducing serious crime.  You will be responsible for the production of intelligence products in line with the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and British Transport Police policy.  The successful candidate will be expected to identify and develop opportunities for enforcement, disruption, prevention and reassurance through effective analysis.

Applicants must be able to evidence the following:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven analytical background within law enforcement or associated public / private sector organisation
  • Experience of supporting investigations
  • Good working knowledge of analytical software including GIS Mapping software, I2 Analyst Notebook as well as Microsoft Office packages.
  • Excellent research skills and good working knowledge of open source tools
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic or other programming language would also be desirable.
