A CAB (Central Authorities Bureau) Manager is required on an 18 month Fixed Term basis paying £36,843.67 plus £2,495 London Allowance with British Transport Police (BTP) based at our Force Headquarters, Camden.

BTP is the national police Force for Britain’s rail network. Every day we ensure the safety and security of over six million passengers and railway staff throughout England, Scotland and Wales. As a CAB (Central Authorities Bureau) Manager you will be required to support the Force's drive to prevent and detect crimes to include all Force Priority crimes and to provide a centre of specialist excellence for guidance, assistance and adherence to the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) 2000 for communications data, surveillance and CHIS

As a CAB (Central Authorities Bureau) Manager you will be required to:

  • Improve the force capability to maximise covert intelligence / evidential opportunities under RIPA, being responsible for the management of the staff within the CAB and ensuring the acquisition and dissemination of all product is ethically managed in accordance with existing policy and legislation in line with ACPO guidelines and best practice.
  • The role involves direct liaison with Senior Management within BTP as well as presence with regional and National Communications Data groups and Home Office as part of the National Decision Model.
  • It is the responsibility of the post holder to manage the delivery of that product to SIO/OICs

The successful as a CAB (Central Authorities Bureau) Manager will be required to evidence the following skills/experience:

  • Proven experience in the field of covert investigation.
  • If not degree educated must have appropriate experience and accreditation for working within a Central Authorities Bureau and dealing with situations concerning life at immediate risk.
  • Proven communication and influencing skills including the ability to present to internal and external partners
