British Transport Police Authority are recruiting for a Director of Digital, Data & Technology for a Permanent Contract role paying c.£140,000 per annum & benefits based in England, Scotland, Wales, with hybrid-flex London base.

 

This is an exciting Director of Digital Data & Technology opportunity for an engaging, commercially pragmatic and innovative leader to shape, lead and deliver an ambitious IT enabled change, at the heart of an organisation wide transformation portfolio.

 

British Transport Police are keen to hire a new Director of Digital Data & Technology to embrace innovative digital & data led thinking, continuous IT service delivery improvement, and new ways of working, in providing a safe and reliable railway.

 

An integral part of the British Transport Police senior leadership team, the Director of Digital Data & Technology will bring a proven pedigree of leading the strategic delivery and exploitation of digital, data and technology services, gained in challenging highly distributed environments.

 

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.

 

The Role:

  • Provide strong Technology leadership driving and delivering a clear programme of digital transformation including technology systems, data exploitation, service and process improvement.
  • As a member of the senior leadership team, and key decision maker, own, shape, deliver and evolve a business aligned evolution of the IT, digital and data strategy, as well as delivering consistent IT operational performance.
  • Proactively seek out opportunities to create operational and service performance improvement through highly resilient, secure, digital data & technology services.
  • Develop strong partnerships across policing and rail technology partners so BTP can be sure They are making best use of the potential synergies across both sectors.
  • Through the creative management of internal and external resources, combine industry best practice and advanced technology to deliver agile, innovative solutions that that set the standard for policing.

 

The Candidate:

  • A passionate, credible senior Digital, Data & Technology transformation leader with highly developed interpersonal skills. You will be an impactful and influential business facing senior manager.
  • A delivery focused leader, you will have strong track record of full lifecycle, IT & digital delivery. With an affinity for public facing, secure services, delivered in partnership with third parties. Direct exposure to policing is not essential.
  • A strong people and resource manager, able to inspire delivery & operations teams (direct and indirect) to continuously improve IT delivery and service performance.
  • You will have a creative and strategic mind-set, combined with a pragmatic and well-disciplined approach to large scale, complex, resilient and secure IT delivery.

 

As an organisation that serves and protects the railways of England Scotland and Wales, British Transport Police are keen to engage with candidates across all three nations. They are open to hybrid-flex working supported by regular structured travel & presence in the Force HQ in London.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
