A Team Leader within the National Disruption Fusion Unit is required for a Permanent Contract role paying £33,438.11 plus £2,634 London Allowance per annum with British Transport Police (BTP) based in Force Headquarters, Camden, London.

BTP is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.

The National Disruption Fusion Unit (NDFU) was established in 2016; it is a dynamic, forward-leaning team which merges BTP and Network Rail (NR) staff and expertise with the objectives of reducing police-related disruption on the railway network (trespass, fatalities, cable theft, vandalism and level crossing events), identifying targeted improvements and delivering new and innovative analytical products with a view to preventing major disruption events before they occur.

As the Team Leader in the NDFU, you will have a unique opportunity to apply your existing knowledge and skill set to the delivery of tactical and strategic objectives for both BTP and NR; there is also considerable scope for new learning and constant professional improvement. The successful candidate will also be responsible for first line management of a pan-industry analytical team comprised of BTP and NR analysts.

As the NDFU Team Leader you will be required to:

  • Lead on the creation and production of products which incorporate elements of classical intelligence analysis, performance analysis and data science techniques
  • Be a knowledge champion within the unit and will be responsible for continuous skill-set progression of the analytical team (including new systems, analytical techniques and best practice from across the fields of analysis and data science)
  • Lead on the production of mixed methods analytical work of the highest level which carries a considerable degree of organisational risk to all involved stakeholders due to the outward facing nature of the unit

Further information about this vacancy can be found in the attached job description.

The successful NDFU Team Leader will be required to evidence the following skills:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification or work experience
  • Experience in supervising/managing a team of staff
  • advanced research, intelligence gathering and analytical skills to interpret complex data
  • Ability to quality assure intelligence products and negotiate with and influence senior industry stakeholders based on data and analytical outcomes

If you are interested in applying to the NDFU Team Leader role then please do not delay as interviews will be held as soon as appropriate candidates are highlighted. In return for your experience, we can offer you:

  • Salary £33,438.11 plus £2,634 London Allowance per annum
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Final Salary Pension
  • Other benefits include a bespoke BTP rewards platform and various salary sacrifice schemes such as cycle to work as well as many high street and online retail discounts
