Prevention & Intervention Lead are required for a Permanent Contract role paying up to Â£31,633.46 per annum plus Â£2,570 London Allowance with British Transport Police (BTP) based in Force Headquarters, London

BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As a Prevention & Intervention Lead with BTP you will proactively drive developments, improvements, and standards through detailed awareness and understanding of Professional Standards priorities and investigations to ensure efficiency and consistency across the Force.

Develop professional working relationships with partner agencies, staff associations and professional bodies to ensure investigations into public complaints, conduct or performance matters are dealt with efficiently and effectively.

Create and maintain regular communication processes that support staff and ensures positivity, accountability and responsibility across the divisions and departments.

Identifying, reflecting and proactively engaging on lessons learnt, themes, trends and risks identified on a regular basis.


As a Prevention & Intervention Lead you will be required to:

  • Lead, manage and proactively communicate professionalism lessons learned processes in accordance with the requirements set out by the IOPC, HMIC, legislation and other governing bodies.
  • Take responsibility for the development and implementation of organisational learning, including liaison with key stakeholders throughout BTP to maintain improvements, reduce financial and reputational risk to the organisation as a result of civil litigation.
  • Identify new methods of reducing complaint, conduct or poor performance, whilst improving the service that the department can offer both internal and external customers. Development and maintenance of all systems aimed at reducing complaint levels across the Force.

The successful Prevention & Intervention Lead will be required to evidence the following skills:

  • Good standard of general education of at least Degree standard or equivalent training/experience
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal communication skills with the sensitivity to provide support across a variety of situations.
  • Experience of establishing good working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders (internally and externally) and across varying levels of seniority.
