The British Transport Police are recruiting for Intelligence Analysts posts working across a variety of disciplines including Force Intelligence Bureau, Complex and Specialist Crime and Covert Policing.

 

The roles are based in BTP’s Intelligence Department within London and will play an active part in developing crime and intelligence reports and aiding investigations in order to support the Control Strategy.

 

As an Analyst you will be required to:

  • Conduct analysis at a strategic, tactical and/or operational level, identifying and using appropriate analytical tools and techniques to interpret gaps, patterns and trends, assess threat, risk and harm and make recommendations in support of decision making, prioritisation and resource allocation.
  • Establish and interpret requirements to ensure the needs of key stakeholders are met.
  • Collect and evaluate data and information to support the creation of a collection plan and the delivery of analytical products.

 

The ideal candidate will have a proven analytical background within law enforcement or associated public/private sector organisation and will be expected to identify and develop enforcement, disruption and prevention opportunities through effective analysis. Applicants will also be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of i2 Analyst Notebook, GIS Software, PNC and Chorus as well as Microsoft Office.

 

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentational skills are required as the post holder will be expected to give briefings and presentations explaining findings and to justify conclusions to various levels of personnel in a clear and concise manner and may be required to give evidence in Court.

 

Significant previous experience of analysing communications data, undertaking digital media investigation and advanced open source research techniques along with a strong mix of investigative and intelligence-led analytical skills will be essential for the roles based in Complex & Specialist Crime and Covert Policing.

 

As a national Force a flexible approach to both working hours and different environments and locations is required to meet operational needs.
