A Transactions Centre Officer is required for a permanent role paying £24,391.58 plus £2835.11 London Allowance per annum with British Transport Police (BTP) based at our Force Headquarters in Camden, London. 

This role offers a blended approach of home and office-working. Attendance at the office is a limited requirement.

BTP is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.

As Transactions Centre Officer with BTP, you will support the Transactions Centre Manager and Transaction Centre Team Leader to deliver financial transactional services to the organisation, which includes delivering the accounts payable and accounts receivables process and delivering the payment management function. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to start a Finance career.

As Transactions Centre Officer, you will be required to:

  • Deliver an effective accounts payable and accounts receivables transaction processing service.
  • Provide an efficient and appropriate credit control process to mitigate the risk of the Force incurring bad and doubtful debts.

The successful Transactions Centre Officer will be required to evidence the following:

  • Excellent customer and supplier service skills and ability to respond appropriately to contacts from internal and external customers.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability of ensuring work is completed in a timely and accurate manner in line with customer expectations.
  • Ability to actively build and maintain a network of colleagues and contacts to achieve progress on objectives and shared interests. Taking a purposeful perspective to identifying the capability needs of the organisation to improve processes within the transaction centre.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
