Database Administrator is required for a permanent contract with British Transport Police (BTP) based at Force Headquarters Camden London.  This opportunity will be a blended role with a mixture of office and homeworking. 

BTP is the national police Force for Britain’s railways. Every day we ensure the safety and security of over six million passengers and staff throughout England, Scotland and Wales. As a DBA with BTP you will offer specialist SQL support for all databases across the estate.

Key activities include:

  • Responsible for installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring, maintenance and tuning of physical databases.
  • Research and respond to logged issues, providing advice/training to users, devising corrections and workarounds
  • To liaise with key system suppliers, business customers and technical colleagues

Key requirements include:

  • Extensive experience of working as a production DBA in both Oracle and SQL Server environments
  • Good experience of performance monitoring and database optimisation tools and techniques
  • Good experience of back­up and recovery tools and techniques.

 Base salary of £43,052.57  plus £2,835.11 London Allowance (if London Based) plus up to £6152 SFIA Supplement per annum and 10% On Call Allowance.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme has been approved and an introductory date has been provisionally agreed of 1st October 2023.
