A Fraud Risk Assessment Specialist is required for a part-time (20 hours per week), 12-month internal opportunity paying £50,674.42 (£27,391.58 pro-rata) plus £3033.56 (£1639.76 pro-rata) London Allowance (for London-based candidates only) per annum with British Transport Police (BTP). This role can be based at any one of our main BTP Hubs: Camden; London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff or Glasgow and also offers a blended approach of home and office-working. Please note that you will be required to attend our Force Headquarters in Camden, London at least once per week.

As a Fraud Risk Assessment Specialist with BTP, you will provide expert advice and insight on fraud risks to BTPA and BTP Senior Management.

As a Fraud Risk Assessment Specialist, you will be required to:

  • Prepare a project plan to ensure successful completion of all assessments within agreed period of time.
  • Lead on workshops to enable the completion of the independent fraud risk assessments to the Cabinet Office methodology across several business areas.
  • Report findings and conclusions and provide recommendations on control improvement required on areas of review, using understanding of governance, policies and best practice across the public sector.
  • Consider wider implications of control weaknesses and track recommended actions to completion.

The successful Fraud Risk Assessment Specialist will be required to evidence the following:

  • Government Counter-Fraud qualified - ACFE or equivalent (including those who have completed the GCFP Risk Assessment Training remotely on FutureLearn)
  • Cabinet Office fraud risk management trained
  • Experience in independently completing in-depth fraud risk assessments across several different fields
  • Experience of working in a counter fraud environment
  • Ability to understand, analyse and advise on complex processes and data in a short period of time to complete the risk assessments and provide recommendations

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. This is applicable to new starters who join before the 1st of October 2023. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London.
