British Transport Police are currently recruiting for 2 Resourcing Administrators; one on a permanent basis and one on a 12 month fixed term contract. These roles are paying £24,391.58 per annum based in Birmingham. The successful candidates will be able to work a blended approach of office and home working. 

BTP is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.

As Resourcing Administrator with BTP, you will assist our Resourcing Advisors in the national recruitment of Police Officers, PCSO's, Special Constables and Police Staff. Furthermore, you will provide professional, efficient, proactive and comprehensive administrative support. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with administrative experience to develop their skills within a policing environment and busy recruitment setting. The successful candidate will have a high level of attention to detail and have experience of working in a fast-paced working environment.

As Resourcing Administrator, your duties will include:

  • Pre-employment checks - collating all relevant documentation for vetting and medical checks, requesting and chasing references
  • Post offer point of contact for all candidates, supporting the on-boarding process, answering queries over phone and email
  • Data entry - processing onboarding documents and data entry to our database systems
  • Updating the recruitment Excel trackers
  • Prepare and issue contracts and offers letters for prospective employees
  • Supporting the Resourcing Advisors with recruitment campaigns and associated workloads
  • Supporting the Resourcing Advisors with preparation for assessment centres.

The successful candidate will be required to evidence the following skills:

  • Previous experience of delivering excellent administrative support 
  • Excellent proficiency with computer use including but not limited to MS Office suite
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a fast-paced working environment
  • Good standard of planning and organisational ability.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised.
